The training will include live-fire range drills.

Shotgun For Home Protection @ Government Training Institute

This 4 hour block of instruction will focus on the proper use of the shotgun for home defense purposes. This class will prepare the student to safely operate their weapon system during these trying and uncertain times. Students will learn how to load, unload and fire their shotguns as well as the proper techniques for speed and tactical reloading. Students will be taught proper shot placement and concentrate on multiple shot engagements.

The class will cover equipment, ballistics, range estimation, environmental conditions, and angular units of measure. If you are looking to make ethical shots on game at extended ranges, or just enjoy shooting targets at long range this class will cover all the information necessary.

The Precision Rifle training class covers topics needed effectively shoot mid to long ranges. The second day of the Precision Rifle With Elevated Shooting course is spent in our 135 foot / 10 floor elevated shooting tower that gives our students the opportunity to learn to shoot from high angles.

Note: In order to attend the 2nd day of this course you must be able to climb the multiple floors of stairs in order to reach the top of the tower, and not be afraid of heights as the shots will taken from the edge of the building.

If you’re looking to find the class to get you to the next level the Advanced Pistol Skills is it. Whether you’re a Law Enforcement Officer or a Competition Shooter, the fundamentals apply the same. Brandon will walk you through learning the balance of speed and accuracy.

Topics will include: Student Assessment, Speed on the Draw / Reloads, Acceptable Sight Picture, Trigger Management, Target Transitions and Far Target vs. Close Target engagements.

Instructor Bio: Brandon Wright is a seasoned firearms and tactical operations instructor with a results oriented, hands on approach. With over 10 years of Law Enforcement experience with the James City County and Virginia State Police Departments, Brandon is a Master Instructor and conducts advanced level firearms and tactical training for senior firearms instructors and tactical teams. Have you just purchased a Pistol Mounted Optic and need training on the How To? Or have you been shooting it for a while and have experienced “losing the dot”. Brandon will walk you through how to navigate running an optic on your handgun. He will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of a red dot, help you navigate obstacles like water/fog/mud, and build your confidence in your setup. A must have class if your everyday carry is equipped with a red dot.

Topics will include: Zeroing distances, Advantages and Disadvantages of a PMO, Gun Setup, Use of Suppressor Sights, Overcoming Potential Obstacles, Acceptable Sight Picture and One Handed Operations.
